Raymond Asberry, 84, of Route 3, Greenville, died Thursday at a local hospital.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Aldersgate Church with the Rev. Gene Welborn and Rev. Ralph Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

Born Oct. 5, 1897, in Lee County,Virginia, he was the son of C.C. and Mary Delia Spears Asberry. He married Johnny Terry April 16, 1933, in Cumby. Mr. Asberry was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; sons, John Raymond Asberry of Greenville, Allen Asberry of Rockwall and Joe Mack Asberry of California; daughters, Delia Ann Craig of Lubbock, Beth Horton of Anchorage, Alaska and Beryl Asberry of Charleston S.C.; niece, Mozelle Smith Burton of Hurst; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1956, his mother in 1967, a son, William Cicero Asberry in 1956 and his sister, Ruby Smith.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. at Aldersgate Church with the Rev. Gene Welborn, Rev. Ralph Anderson and Rev. Joe Leatherwood officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Pallbearers will be Austin Green, Paul Mathews, Bill Turner, James Taggart, James C. Patterson and Guy Miller.
