Sannas D. Shaw Van, 94, of Rochester, MN passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Charter House.

Sannas DeVee was born August 23, 1922 to Rex and Sarah (Humphries) Fenley in Seymour, IA. She graduated from Ames High School (IA) and then attended Iowa State University.

During the war Sannas was acting head of the Ames Building and Trust Company.

She married John Shaw Van in Ames on May 14, 1947. The couple lived in Des Moines, IA and Endicott, NY, settling in Rochester, MN.

She was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church. She was docent at Heritage House and held local and state offices in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also active in numerous community endeavors.

Sannas is survived by her children, Martha (Gilbert) McArthur, of Fountain Hills, AZ; Melissa Tjeerdsma, of Sioux City, IA; Nancy (Bradford) Kruse, of Centenial, CO; daughter-in-law, Mary Shaw Van of Piney Flats, TN; and grandchildren, Sarah McArthur, John (Micah) Tjeerdsma, Kenneth (Chelsi) Tjeerdsma, Elizabeth Tjeerdsma, William Tjeerdsma, Nicholas Kruse and Patrick Kruse.

Sannas was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, John; and infant daughter, Ellen.

There will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Charter House.

Memorials may be directed to the Learning Center and the Heritage House of Rochester.
