Burial will take place at the Zion Christian Church in rural Douglas County near Atwood, Ill.

A native of Douglas County Ill. he was born the son of the late Walter and Esther Von Lanken. He worked on his family’s farm until he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps where he served in WWII. He graduated from the University of Illinois and worked as a grain merchandizer, sometimes on the Chicago Board of Trade, and later as a manager of grain elevators including first manager of Hopkinsville Elevator Company Inc. He taught at the Hopkinsville Community College until his retirement. He participated in the local SCORE organization. He was a member of the Hopkinsville Parkinson’s support group.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and two sons, Kevin Duane and Kent Alan.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Melba Y. Von Lanken; his daughter, Carol, Lexington; his son, Chris, Hopkinsville; his brother, Roger (Sandy) Von Lanken, Du Quoin, Ill.
