CHARLOTTESVILLE – James Ligon Clark, 86, of Route 627 (Glenthorne Farm), Nellysford, died Sunday (June 20, 1993) in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born April 30, 1907, in Buckingham County, a son of the late James A. and Susie Boatwright Clark.
He was a retired self-employed farmer, a form associate of Clark Enterprises of Bethesda, Md., an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston where he served on the deacon board and also as a Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Charlottesville Gideon Camp.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Faye Shupe Clark in 1962; and by one daughter, Cecilia Ann Matthews Anderson.
He is survived by his second wife, Annie Phillips Clark; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Patrick of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Sue Bercaw of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Becky Napier of San Diego, Calif.; one son, Alex Clark of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Mary Jane Matthews Dull Hoffman of Nellysford; a stepson, John Burnett Matthews of Chesterfield; a sister, Mrs. Mattie Clark Sirbaugh of Winchester; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday from Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston by the Rev. John P. Campbell and Robert Mansfield. Burial will be in Rockfish Valley Baptist Church cemetery at Nellysford.
