New Kensington
Helen Pauline Konesky Degnan, 80, of New Kensington died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 2004) in her home.
Born Feb. 2, 1924, in Renton, Plum, she lived in the Valley all of her life.
She was a 1942 graduate of New Kensington High School.
Mrs. Degnan was a glassworker for PPG Industries, East Deer, and later a television representative for the former Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Kensington.
Mrs. Degnan enjoyed yard work and was a Steelers fan.
Survivors include a son, Edgar "Butch" (Kathie) McKinley of Arnold; a daughter, Patricia Ball (Jerry) Morrison of New Castle; two stepdaughters, Donna (Edward) Fry of Lower Burrell and Judy Shondeck of Fox Chapel; a brother, Carl Konesky of Lower Burrell, and a sister, Virginia Irwin of Natrona Heights, Harrison.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kristen, Philip (Dawn) and Matthew McKinley and Steve Morrison; three stepgrandchildren; Scott and Todd Fry and Dave Shondeck; and two great-grandchildren, Craig Cummings and Philip McKinley Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron H. "Barney" Degnan; her parents, Teofil and Rose Ostrowski Kochanowski; a stepgrandson, Craig Shondeck; and a sister, Francine Amerine.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday in the funeral home at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
