Upon learning of the death of Antoine Hoffman Belle goes to his farm in order to inventory the community property. Inventory taken by Darensbourg and Antoine Chaste [Chasse]. One of the items inventoried was a farm 2 arpents wide by the customary dept, located on the right bank of the Mississippi River ascending about 25 miles above New Orleans bounded above by the property of Dominique Badeau fills and below by Antoine Chaste. Names of the heirs of this succession: Antoine, Philippe, Andre and Dominique Hoffman; the late Marianne Hoffman, wife of Jacque Elfer [Helfer], or her heirs; Magdelaine Hoffman wife of Maurice Helfer]; Marie Hoffman, wife of Claude Rousselle; Catherine Hoffman, wife of Charles Pontif; Agnes Hoffman wife of Dominique Badeau; and Ursule Hoffman, a girl of 13 years. [Note: Chaste spelled his surname "Chasse."]
Tutorship, October 16, 1781. In view of the death of Antoine Hofmann and the minority of several of his children. namely: Philippe, Andre, Dominique and Ursula, Bellile names Claude Roussel, their brother-in-law, to be their tutor. Roussel, in the presence of Darensbourg and Saint-Germain, accepts the tutorship. Antoine Hofmann stands bond for Roussel.
