Frank Edward Fallon, 73, of Waco, passed away Friday, April 30, 2004, at his residence. He was born on June 16, 1930, to Frank and Pauline Fallon in El Paso, Texas.

Frank had been suffering since 1995 from Parkinson's disease. He retired in 1995 after 42 years handling the broadcasts of Baylor football and basketball games. A banner displaying his microphone hangs from the rafters at the school's basketball arena.

In addition to his broadcasting duties with Baylor, Fallon was the public address announcer for the NCAA Final Four from 1978 to 1998. He handled television play-by-play of Southwest Conference basketball games for NBC and ESPN and was general manager of KWTX radio in Waco for 29 years. He also was Baylor's coordinator of broadcast activities for more than a decade.

In 2001, the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame gave Fallon the Chris Schenkel Award, which is presented to a college football broadcaster who has excelled in his field and contributed to his community.

Frank was a devoted servant of Christ. He was one of the founding members of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit.

Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, June Fallon of Waco; sons, Kyle Fallon of Waco, Steve Fallon and his wife Beverly of Waco, Michael Fallon and his wife Terry of Austin and Mark Fallon of Uvalde; sister, Phyllis Fallon of San Antonio; grandchildren, Stephanie Fallon of Austin, James Fallon of San Diego, Sarah Fallon of Santa Clarita, California, Sean Fallon and Blayre Fallon, both of Robinson; stepgrandchildren, Julia and Joey Whitmer, both of Baltimore, Maryland; cousin, Anne Fallon Hudson of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit with Reverend John Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit and the Central Texas Senior Ministry.
