Interment: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 8, 2017 in Crosbyton Cemetery in Crosbyton, Texas.
Visitation: 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Wiley Funeral Home.
Jackie was born Oct. 22, 1925 in Seymour, Texas to John C. and Essie Beryl Snyder Bedford. One of 12 children, she attended several schools in north central Texas before graduating from North Side High School in Fort Worth.
Jackie met Larry Parker on the day he returned home from serving as a pilot in World War II. They were married on Aug. 1, 1946. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.
Jackie served as Assistant Fire Marshal and Arson Investigator in Brownwood, Texas until her retirement in 1988. She was the first female certified as an Arson Investigator in the state of Texas and went on to teach classes at the Texas A&M Fire School in College Station. After retirement, she and Larry moved to Granbury to be near their only grandson, M.J. Parker, family and friends.
Jackie was known for her creativity and craftsmanship skills. She was a member of the Granbury Church of Christ, The Texas Extension Education association and volunteered with other community organizations. Always kind and generous, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Parker; parents, six brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include: Daughter, Susan and husband Jim White of Granbury; sons Steve and wife Shirley Parker of Spring and Mike and wife Terrie Parker of Granbury; grandson, M.J. Parker of Granbury; sisters, Mary and husband Bill Hill of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Lou Sudduth of Tyler and sister-in-law, Shirley Adkinson of Granbury.
Her Parker family was very dear to her, brothers-in-law Don and wife, Lottie, Dayton and wife Jewel and Jack (deceased).
She had numerous nieces and nephews who were all a special part of her family.
