Venelson was a prisoner at the Libby Prison in Richmond Virginia and taken sick and died of disease. He was not married. He was buried in the "Columbia Cemetery" in Columbia Maine. This is not the same person as Everett Venelson French buried in the Columbia Cemetery but is the same family, one was the son and the other the grandson of Sewell, the second. Both Talbot and Freeman also had sons Venelson.
Venelson is the spelling of his name on his stone, "son of S. and Sally French died in perhaps New Orleans July 19, 1863 age 22 yrs 1 month and 1 day. (He was in New Orleans but may have actually died a few days later in the hospital elsewhere.)
According to the French Family Association he was buried Mailey Hill Cemetery in Columbia. He has a stone in the cemetery which has broken over the years and worn away. It is in two pieces on the ground and has a flag. Cemetery is located Station Rd in Columbia, right just past 4 Corners Grocery on Rt1, not too far on the left.
