Louisa left with her family to California in 1869, but then returned to work and learn formal dressmaking with her grand-aunt Mary Ann Presgrave Bunting by 1870. Her aunt lived adjacent to the Governor of Utah, and was one of the premier dressmakers in SLC. Mary Ann made all the gowns for the Governor's wife and daughters, as well as other members of high society in the area. Louisa was married very briefly to George Hill, but did not like plural marriage. She then moved back in with her aunt by 1880, after having one child with George. She lived only a few blocks from George until she relocated back to California about 1885. Once back in CA, she met and married Amable Rouleau.

Louisa's great grandson Baby Lowen Tucker - memorial #204278888 is also in plot with her.
