Joyce was born in Sibert, Kentucky the daughter of the late Isaac Hugh Buchanan, Sr. and the late Katie Ball Buchanan. Other than her parents, Joyce was also preceded in death by her Husband, Albert Joseph “Pete” Spare, Jr.; Son, Thomas Anthony Spare; Brother, Isaac Hugh Buchanan, Jr.
Joyce was a member of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was always heavily involved in Genealogy, Literature, Poetry, Reading and Writing. Joyce was also a Member of the First Baptist Church in Hazard, and was a Graduate of Hazard High School, and then attended Brenau College and the University of Kentucky. Funeral Services for Mrs. Joyce Louise Buchanan Spare will be conducted on Thursday June 8, 2017 at 5:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Sluss officiating. The Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery located at Jeff, Kentucky. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 3:30 till 5:00 P.M.
