VERO BEACH, FL - Richard Donald Doyle, 86, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Warren, OH, died Thursday, July 17, 2008.
He was born Sept. 27, 1921 in Akron, the son of Frank and Mary Doyle. He was raised in New Castle, PA.
He had served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
He had been a supervisor on the B&O Railroad before joining Packard Electric, from which he retired as skilled trade supervisor in 1980. He than enjoyed many years of retirement in Vero Beach, FL.
He had been a member of Blessed Sacrament Church of Warren, OH, along with the Elks and Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Louise Stevens Doyle, in April 1978, to whom he had been married for 32 years; his brother, Bob; and sisters, Lucille Daniels, Stella Greene and Francis Logue.
He remarried in 1980 to Eleanor Applegate Doyle, who survives him. They were married for 28 years. He is survived by his sons, Richard Doyle of NM, Dennis Doyle of Texas and Dan Doyle of Texas; and his sister, Laura Withrow of PA.
He was always there for his family and was a man of integrity. He will be sorely missed.
They attended St. Helens's Catholic Church in Vero Beach and in lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Vero Beach Hospice.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
