Joanne Catherine Rigby, age 85, of Princeton Avenue in Corning, NY died Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
She was born on September 17, 1930 in Addison to William and Evelyn (Kelly) Lowe. She graduated from Addison Central High School. Joanne worked for Corning Hospital, J + M Jewelers, and the Hilton. She married Robert Rigby, Sr. on July 30, 1961 in Corning and was predeceased by him on July 24, 2009.
Joanne was always involved with community service as a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, active in the American Legion, distinguished with the College of Regents for the Women of the Loyal Order of the Moose, a Girl Scout Leader and the Red Hat Society. She loved playing cards, dancing, reading, spending time with family, and travelling.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Amy) Rigby, Jr. of Corning; daughter, Roberta (Bob) Rigby Hess of Richboro, PA; sister, Patricia Lowe; brother, Charles (Vicky) Lowe; grandchildren: Madison, Julia, Courtney, Ryan, Joshua, and Christopher; nieces and nephews: James (Mary) Carr, Deborah(Tom) Crane, David (Candy) Carr, Lori Carr, Barb (Glenn) Painter, and Carol Turner; several other nieces and nephews. Joanne was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Rae Dickersheid; brother, William Lowe; sister, Barbara Carr and a niece, Elizabeth Sopher.
