Freddie Mae Fox was born to Leslie and Anna Brown March 4, 1926 in Skiatook, Oklahoma. She departed this life May 30, 2017 at the age of 91 years 2 months and 26 days.
She attended school in Skiatook. Freddie moved to Bristow from Olive in 1970, making it her home. She grew up an independent person and was never one to sit around and wait for something to happen. Freddie had done many things not typical for a woman to do such as graduating from Vo-Tech with a certificate in auto mechanics; she was extremely proud of that accomplishment. In 1945 Freddie married Jonathan Barnes. To this union were born two children, John and Mary. They enjoyed 16 years together before his passing in 1961. She later found love again after meeting Ed Fox. They were wed May 22, 1971 and enjoyed 31 years together before his passing March 17, 2003. Freddie was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and took every opportunity she could to be involved. She was an active member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary; she loved to go dancing and was an avid Bristow Pirate sports fan. Sewing and gardening also filled her time, along with some traveling. As well, family was important to Freddie; she loved them dearly.
She is survived by one daughter Mary Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Jesse Barnes and Kiana Chandler of Bristow, Aubrae Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas and one great grandchild, Krischele Prejean; one brother Lawrence Brown of Colorado, and one sister, Helen Scott of Yale, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Jonathan Barnes, second husband Ed Fox and one son John Barnes.
Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Bristow with Reverend DJ Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Bristow City Cemetery.
