Shirley Anna Floyd Hayes, daughter of the late Dr. Seth J. Floyd and Alice Berot Floyd, passed away on June 2, 2017 at Quiet Oaks Heathcare in Crawford, GA. Shirley was born July 5, 1925, in New Orleans, LA and graduated in 1942 from McMain High School in New Orleans. She attended the University of Alabama the following year, thus becoming a lifelong Alabama fan. Shirley and Wilson A. Hayes married November 11, 1956, in Atlanta and returned to Athens in 1963. Shirley began working as a secretary in several medical practices, including Athens Eye Associates. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Barrentine and her nephew, Patrick Coleman. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 1:00pm to 2:30 followed by a service in the chapel at Lord & Stephens, East. Burial will follow in Oconee Hill Cemetery. She is survived by her cousin, Lorraine Glenn and family as well as nieces, Ginny Burroughs and Betty Coleman and their families. Shirley will be greatly missed by her friends and her Quiet Oaks "Family". In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, the American Heart Association or the residents of Quiet Oaks Healthcare. Lord & Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
