Maud Pioneer Dies Suddenly
O. H. Jones Is Victim of Heart Attack; Rites Wednesday
Suffering from heart trouble, O. H. Jones, 72-year-old pioneer resident of Maud, dropped dead unexpectedly Monday at 2:45 o’clock in the afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. E. Lane, Mr. Jones had complained of feeling badly since last Wednesday, according to relatives.
Coming to this community in 1908 from Baxter County, Arkansas, Mr. Jones engaged in farming. For many years he followed the tilling of the soil and helped to rear his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in Maud seven years ago.
Six children survive. The daughters are, Mrs. M. E. Lane, with whom Mr. Jones was living; Mrs. Elzie Evans, Long Beach, Calif.; and Mrs. Gussie Walker, Wewoka. The sons are, E. H. Jones, Roff; B. M. Jones, Maud and Ben O. Jones, Maud. There are four brothers, Jim Jones, Cotter, Ark.; Lon Jones, Mountain Home, Ark.; Lee Jones, Little Rock, Ark.; and E. C. Jones, Flexico, Calif.
Funeral services will be performed Wednesday at 2 o’clock at the Church of Christ by the pastor, Houston Biggerstaff. Burial will be made in the Cummings Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of Ogee Brothers Funeral Home.
