Dick was a graduate of Cressona High School, received his Bachelor's degree in education from Kutztown State Teachers College, and his Master's degree in education from Temple University.
He completed working in the West Shore School District as a Teacher, Principal and Director of Elementary Education after 34 years and served six years as the Administrator of Bible Baptist School in Shiremanstown. Dick was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Dillsburg.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Dorothy (Moyer) Bittle; their daughter, Janice Yinger and husband Ronald of Mechanicsburg; their son, James Bittle and wife Darlene of Wellsville; sister Jean Kleppinger of Warminster, PA; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Lin Moyer and wife Lezetta of Tacoma Park, MD.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, June 6, 2017 at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, 154 Chestnut Grove Road, Dillsburg with the Rev. Charles Martzall officiating. Visitation and luncheon will take place following the service at the church. Burial will take place privately at Rolling Green Cemetery.
