Imogene Denby, 90, of Groves, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Oak Grove Nursing Home, Groves. She was born on December 27, 1926, to Edna Maye Crain Peveto and Wylie Peveto in Orangefield. Imogene was an excellent seamstress and cook. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren and was very close to her sisters. Imogene was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church of Port Arthur.

Survivors include her sons, Ken Denby and his wife, Karol, of Groves and Keith Denby and his wife, Peggy, of Huntington; sisters, Faye Paules of Devers; Wanda Whittington of Devers; and Gertrude Whittington of Johnson City; grandchildren, Joshua Denby and his wife, Amy; Carissa Denby; Elissa Williams and her husband, Joshua; John Denby and his wife, Amanda; Mark Denby and his wife, Kristin; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathee Denby.

A gathering of Ms. Denby’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Bland Cemetery, Orange.
