July 4, 1942 – May 30, 2017. In his 75th year of life, John Kitchen Moore, Sr., peacefully passed away of natural causes while surrounded by his family.

He leaves behind sons, Albert Mitchell Moore (Lisa) and John Kitchen Moore, Jr. (Nichole); sisters, Mems Bicking (Sam) and Stokely Moore; nieces, Laura Bicking and Nancy Hartselle (Brandon); grand-nephew, Charlie Hartselle; and nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Lauren, Gabriel, Cora, Lucas, Tucker, Cleo, and Ben Moore, Seona and Eamon Griffith. He joins his beloved daughter, Katie; brother, Richard Lawson Moore III (Adele); nephew, Richard Lawson Moore IV; and parents, Richard Lawson Moore, Jr. and Nancy Kitchen Moore.

John was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. He was Executive Vice President of Loveman’s Department Store until 1988, and a long-time member of the Rotary Club and other civic organizations. In his later years, John took pleasure in visiting elderly shut-ins and worked as a Walmart greeter, where he was known to the entire community. He had a lion’s heart for the poor, the elderly, and his family.

A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church Chapel
