He was the father of ten children including William Preston, the notorious Texas outlaw, otherwise known as "Wild Bill Longley". Although Campbell loved his son very much it is reported that he did not approve of his life style.
Mr. Longley was a Christian, a Mason, and a veteran of the Texas Revolutionary War. On April 6, 2002, a bronze medallion was placed at his grave site by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Beloved by those who knew him best.

1870: Living in Bell County, Texas with spouse and five children.
1880: Living in Precinct 2, Bell, Texas with spouse and three children.
1900: Living in Precinct 3, Lampasas, Texas, widowed, with married son's family.
