He was born in Nelson County on Dec. 22, 1921, a son of Fleetie Bradley and Carl E. Small Sr.
He was a member of Wintergreen Christian Church where he was an elder. He retired from DuPont Co. in 1984 with 36 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Small; two sons, Gary Small and Glen Allen Small, both of Nellysford; three stepsons, Eddie Allen of Stuarts Draft, Bobby Allen of Lynchburg and Steven Allen of Nellysford; one sister, Thelma McGann of Nellysford; one brother, Charles Small of Lynchburg; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wintergreen Christian Church by the Revs. Robert Mansfield and Tommy Toms.
Burial will be in Rockfish Valley Baptist Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Patrick, Clyde Hinkle, Herbert Truslow, Andy Hickman, Les Graves and Norman Napier.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and members of Wintergreen Christian Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont.
