Mass of Christian Burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling arrangements.
Survivors include nieces, Dr. Lois J. Karl and her husband J. Roy Black of Michigan, Eileen M. Welna and her husband Thomas of St. Paul; nephew, Thomas M. Karl of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Bierbaum in 1977; sister, Ethel (Leary) Karl in 1990; and niece Mary J. Karl.
She was born July 29, 1914 in New Ulm to Raymond and Emma (Sturm) Leary. She graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in 1932. On June 3, 1943 she married Adolph Bierbaum and they resided in New Ulm. She was employed as a secretary at the Eagle Roller Mill company in New Ulm. For 25 years she was employed by the State Employment Service office of New Ulm. Following her husband's death, she continued to work until retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Turner Ladies, St. Monica's Society, and had been active with the food shelf.
