Albert Louis AsKew (August 27, 1940-May 25, 2017) was born in Chipley, Georgia, son of the late Louis Elwin AsKew and Mary Carlisle AsKew. He graduated from Harris County High School then continued his education at Young Harris College, LaGrange College, and Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
In 1960 he began 46 years of ministry in The United Methodist Church. He was a true modern day circuit rider, having served 34 of his 46 years as the pastor of multi-church charges. He felt called to minister to small town and rural churches as a member of the North Georgia Conference. Rev. AsKew is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sally Curtis AsKew, one son, Dr. Dennis W. AsKew, his wife Kim, and three grandchildren, Taylor of Houston, Texas, Alexander and Jessica of Greensboro, North Carolina. He is also survived by one brother, Hoke Askew and his wife Carla of Columbus, Georgia, and several nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at Oconee Street United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 10th, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Oconee Street United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 6707, Athens Georgia 30604), Young Harris College (Class of 1960 Scholarship Challenge, P.O.
