Clara Newberry

Services for Clara Bell Newberry, 85, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of God, 622 N Townsend. The Rev. Braxton Bigot, Fort Smith, Ark., will conduct rites, assisted by the Rev. C.W. Elliott. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at Stonewall.
Mrs. Newberry died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 31, 1900, in Purdy, Okla., to John D. and Mary Malicoat Davis and lived in Ada and surrounding areas the past 47 years.
She was a housewife, married to Elmer Lee Newberry March 29, 1919 in Anadarko. He died Jan. 3, 1982 in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include four sons, Venis Newberry, Moore, Lawrence Newberry, Muldrow, Raymond Newberry, Midwest City, and Don Newberry, Paoli; four daughters, Ellie Matthews, Antioch, Calif., Leddie Buchanan, Ada, Mamie Stringer, Tupelo, and Mary Cramer, Stonewall; one brother, Lee Davis, Marlow; three sisters, Florence Bishop, Oklahoma City, Pearl Cowan, Duncan, and Fannie Newberry, Brentwood, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be bearers.
Smith-Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
