LEON MOTTIN DIES

Leon A. (Jack) Mottin, 70, died suddenly at 8:25 o'clock this morning at his home in Potter as he attempted to get out of bed. During the night he had suffered a severe attack of asthma. Death was due to a heart ailment.

Mr. Mottin has been enjoying unusually good health of late and was able to make garden and pitch horseshoes. His death was entirely unexpected.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday from St. Patrick's church, south of Atchison. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Catholic cemetery. The body will be removed from a Leavenworth mortuary to the home tomorrow morning.

Leon August Mottin was born in the Mt. Olivet community, April 14, 1868. He was married April 19, 1899 to Miss Mary Harris of Kickapoo.

Mr. Mottin was known throughout his lifetime as "Big Jack" Mottin.

Surviving are two daughters, Misses Katherine and Margaret Mottin, both of Kansas City, four sons, Francis and Harry Mottin, both of Oak Mills, and Edward and Loraine Mottin, both of the home; two sisters, Miss Addie Mottin, Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Julia LeBreton, Kansas City; a brother, Frank Mottin, Leavenworth, and a grandchild.
