PIONEER RESIDENT CROSSES DIVIDE

Last Friday morning the community was shocked to learn of the sudden passing of Mrs. Nancy Ann McAllister Fletcher. She was born 18 Feb 1851 in Wayne County, Indiana, and the next year crossed the plains in company with her family to the state of Washington, settling in Clark county.

In 1867 she was married to John M. Fletcher and after a few years in Oregon, they came to Washington and pre-empted a claim near Toler in this county in 1888 and made this their permanent residence. Her husband died three years ago and she has since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Charles Bell. She leaves ten children to cherish her memory.

Final services were held in the Methodist church, Rev. Sykes officiating. Interment was made at the local cemetery.
