John Ambers
Work was received in the city early this morning stating that John Ambers had passed away in the Longcliff asylum after suffering from complications of diseases for some time. Ever since he was taken to Logansport last fall he has continually complaining of sickness. While a resident of this city he lived on Buck street and was a well known personage.
He was born about 75 years ago in Wabash county and later came to this county where he lived until taken to the asylum. He was married and to the union were born five children, of whom four are now living. These are James, John, William and Goldie. He was at one time a member of the Methodist Church. The funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.

The funeral of John Ambers will be held Thursday morning at 10 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Toney, on Hasty street. Rev. Wike will be in charge and the interment will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery.

Son of William Amber (1794-1872) and Martha Powell (1820-1908). The Sons and Grandchildren of William and Martha used Ambers, unlike anyone else in the family. Martha Powell Ambers is said to be buried in Mount Etna Cemetery also, but their is no record of the burial.
