Gisela (Gigi) Wood passed away peacefully on February 29, 2008, in Eureka, California. She was born on October 22, 1964, in Uebach-Palenberg, Germany, to Bruno Paul and Liesbeth Else Habicht.
After marrying her husband, Donald, they moved to many places throughout his career until finally moving to Humboldt County in 2003. Gisela was employed by DHHS, Social Services Branch, and Older Adults where she worked as a vocational assistant for the In Home Support Services Unit. She touched the lives of many people everywhere she went and took every opportunity to assist the elderly and disabled.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Wood; son, Kevin Wood; brothers, Bernd Habicht, Peter Habicht, Udo Habicht, Klaus Habicht, Dieter Habicht, Jürgen Habicht, and Hans-Joachem Habicht; and sister, Heide Druschke. She is also survived by numerous other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Bruno Paul Habicht and Liesbeth Else Habicht.
Casket Bearers will be Treves Green, Paul Fielder, Bert Rivera, Jeremiah Herron, Jack Anglin, and GYSGT Daniel Sage.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home in Eureka and concluding at Ocean View Cemetery, Eureka.
