In his Confederate indigent pension application, he states that he "enlisted in Austin July 1863 and served until May 1865. Was immediately detailed to serve in Subsistence Department and was sent to work gathering cattle for Luckitts Regiment. My entire time was out in driving beeves for the command. I did not serve in any company as a soldier, was not transferred. Subsistence Department did not serve as a soldier." Pension #29601 was approved and widow's pension was awarded to his wife after his death. In his pension application, he stated he was a farmer, but not able to work. Contributor: [email protected]
