Jesse Thomas Blackwell was born Dec. 2, 1832 in Springfield, Missouri to Jesse Blackwell II and Mary "Polly" Boring.

The Blackwell's were early pioneers of Texas, migrating to Texas ca 1844 when the family settled in Gonzales county in what is now known as Brownsboro. In 1848 it became Caldwell County and in 1850 they bought land.

His father, Jesse Thomas Blackwell Sr., was born in 1784 in Virginia. He was a Farmer in 1850 in Madison County, Arkansas and Caldwell County, Texas. He was buried ca 1855 in the Blackwell Cemetery, Caldwell County, Texas. Called "Jess". Jesse Thomas Blackwell was my 3rd great grand Uncle, and a brother to my 3rd great grandmother: Eveline Blackwell-Teas who married my 3rd great grandfather: Samuel B Teas.

He married Nancy Mariea Keese on Feb 27, 1856 in Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas and they had a least 10 children. Their marriage is recorded in Caldwell County courthouse BLACKWELL, Thomas, KEESE, Nancy / G.W. Shoaf, JP / 07 Feb 1856, P. 120 (notice that the marriage record indicates Thomas Blackwell and Nancy Keese and does not show full name of either of them).

THE MISSING MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES
Note - The last marriage recorded in Caldwell County Marriage Book A is dated 24 November 1852. The first marriage which appears in Marriage Book C-D is dated 24 October 1856. There were no records in the Caldwell County Clerks Office showing marriages between these dates. In
1995 during the evacuating of the Courthouse so that it could be restored, a box of certificates were found. They had not been recorded. The number was assigned by the clerk. The certificates,now called the Missing Certificates, has been indexed and is listed as Book B (at least temporarily).

County Clerk, Caldwell County Courthouse, P.O. Box 62, Lockhart, TX 78644.

Jesse's headstone has the Masonic emblem engraved on it.

Jesse Thomas Blackwell died January 12, 1901 and his wife, Nancy Mariea Keese-Blackwell, died November 10, 1924 (both died in Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas and are buried in the Blackwell-Rector Cemetery).
