Everyone called her "Nana". She was the daughter of John Breen, the oldest child of Patrick & Margaret Breen of the Donner Party fame.

She was born and raised in San Juan Bautista in the adobe that John Breen built. She was a very strong and determined woman. Her children included, Birdie, Edythe, Agnes, Leah, Joe and my grandfather Arthur S. Nyland.

Even though I was only two when she passed, I can remember sitting on her bed. She looked just like the See's Candies founder! She was bedridden for ten years before her death resulting a fall she took on the steps of the old Post Office.
