Mr. Donald “Donny” Powers, age 67, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday morning May 24, 2017. He was born August 1, 1949 in Carrollton, Georgia, the son of the late Ray Joseph Powers and the late Mary Nell Alford Powers. He was a graduate of Central High School and later graduated from West Georgia College with a Bachelor’s Degree. He was a retired manager with Atlanta Gas Light and following his retirement worked with the Benton Company. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, retiring with over twenty years of service. He attended Grace Fellowship Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Brock Powers. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Green of Carrollton; brother, Randall Powers of Decatur; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Myrtle Brock of Carrollton; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ricky & Linda Brock, Ricky & Debbie North, Wanda & Watson Rigsby, and Randy & Marsha Brock, all of Carrollton. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heriage Chapel with Rev. Wayne Brown and Mr. Richard Griffin officiating. Music will be rendered by Debbie Ethridge. Those serving as pallbearers will be Frank Turner, Tony Walker, Gayle Edwards, David Pollard, Randy Sims and Kyle Hollaway. Those seated as honorary pallbearers will be Perry Richardson, Kim Bell, Jerry Bell, and Ricky McLendon. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with full military honors.
