Born June 5, 1923 in Keokuk, Iowa, Aileen was the daughter of Frank and Merle Marie Shaffer Boyd. She married Keith Mecum on November 14, 1948 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1990.
Aileen was member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church. Aileen loved helping others by being a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, Blessing Hospital Hospitality House and had served as a board member at the Quincy Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed making stained glass as the Senior Citizens Work Shop and attending dances hosted by the Senior Center.
Aileen was a graduate of Louisiana (Missouri) High School. She devoted her life to caring for her husband and daughter.
Surviving is her daughter, Linda Mecum of Arlington, TX; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Aileen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith; four brothers, Harold Boyd, Richard Boyd, Robert Boyd and Wayne Boyd; and a nephew who was special to Aileen, Jerry Boyd.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Tomko officiating. Burial will be in the Bowen Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.
