This is very hard for me to add one of my best friends bio. Futi was my husbands best friend. They grew up together in Hawaii and ended up here in Orange County California. Futi was my husband's best man at our wedding and my husband, Sai, was his best man at his wedding. We are Godparents to his oldest daughter Dionne. Futi and his wife Mo were two of the most dearest people I knew. We were friends for over forty years. In the beginning we did everything together. As time went on, his career took him one direction and my husband's career another. We didn't get to see them as much but we tried to stay together over phone calls. We did attend each others kids graduations, weddings and other close family gatherings.
Futi was a Santa Ana policeman for over twenty-seven years. He started programs for the Asian-Pacific Islander kids of the community. He got them scholarships and recruted for the USC football program. After retirement, him and his wife were going to retire over in America Samoa but unfortunatley his wife passed away suddenly in April of 2004. He got into real estate and buying and selling property. From what I understand he was quite good at it just like everything else he did.
Futi was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a wonderful friend and I am going to miss him so much. Give Mo a great big hug for me Futi and I send my love with you. Until we meet again my friend. Much Alofa's, Mo.
Futi is survived by his three children:
Dionne (Apo)Brown
Chris (Monica) Semanu
Pam (Joseph) Maynard
His thirteen grandchildren:
Arthur Brown
Britney Brown
Colbie Brown
Deilyn Brown
Eli Brown
Fia Fia Brown
Patrick Barnes
Paul Joseph Barnes
Chris Semanu Jr.
Tyler Semanu
Austin Maynard
Aiden Maynard
Landon Maynard
He is also survived by his siblings from the
Utu-Semanu and Nimoai-Tauala Families
Futi's wife, Maureen(Mo), preceded him in death on April 28, 2004.
I want to thank Steve Edquist so very much for sponsoring my good friend, Futi's, memorial. Thank you Steve. It means so much to me and thank you for being a wonderful friend and angel.
Thank you Patsy so very much for taking the time to get a picture of my dear friend Futi's headstone. He was so special to my husband and I and we miss him dearly. Thank you again my friend.
