Russell Rodgers Elgin, 55, died at his home on Flathead Drive in Kalispell Friday morning following a lingering illness.
Mr. Elgin was born July 27, 1912, in Canton, Ill., the son of George and Nellie Elgin. He was married to Velva Daly Nov. 24, 1934, in Terry.
Mr. Elgin worked on the Fort Peck Dam and came to the Flathead in 1940. He worked on Hungry Horse Dam and also at the aluminum plant at Columbia Falls as an electrician. He was a member of the IBEW.
He is survived by his wife, Velva at home; two sons, Don and Jim, both of Kalispell; two daughters, Linda Hummel of Kalispell and Carole Custer of Great Falls; six grandchildren; a brother, Paul of Kennewick, Wash.; two sisters, Blanche Leak of Danville, Ill., and Lucille Carrothers of Jonesburg, Mich.; his father, George Elgin of Bryant, Ill., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Elgin will be conducted Monday at 3:30 p.m. from the Waggener & Campbell Chapel with Rev. Charles Nowlen, pastor of Epworth Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
