Bruce Henry Plantz, 83, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Jordan, NY, died April 7, 2017 at Tampa St. Petersburg Pulmonary Hospital after a brief illness. Bruce "Chick" was born to Frank and Catherine Plantz, the youngest of 6 siblings. He graduated from Jordan HS and served in the US Air Force in Spokane, WA as well as Guam.
Bruce was later employed by Unocal Corporation and worked most of his life in the California and Washington areas. Bruce retired to the Alabama area before ultimately settling in Florida.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents, his sister June (Bob) Somes, brothers Robert (Rosie), Gordon (Grump) all of Jordan NY; great-nephew Michael McBride and brother-in-law John Lynch both of Weedsport NY.
Bruce is survived by his husband Roni Taipale, in-laws Anita & Reijo Taipale of Finland; two sisters-in-law of Belgium and Helsinki; his son Bruce Jr and daughters Mary Catherine and Jana; his sisters Doris Lynch of Port Byron, NY and Carolyn (John) Moore of Jordan, NY; sister-in-law Mabel Plantz of Jordan; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren.
Bruce and Roni enjoyed traveling abroad and were active members of various classic car clubs in the Winter Haven area and active members of their local church.
A sunset memorial service will be held this month at their home on Lake Conine in Winter Haven.
