E.W. Shurtz Dies Today
Ernest W. Shurtz, 82, Rt. 1, a prominent area farmer, died today at 8:25 a.m. at Memorial Hospital.
He was born in the West Bolton area on Feb. 5, 1890, to Hampton and Jennie Riley Shurtz. He was married to Eva Bagby on April 10, 1912, at Winfield and was a long time member of the Mt. Zion church.
Survivors include his widow of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Leona) Dunbar of Larned, Kans., and Mrs. Jim (Jolene) Jones of Charlotte N.C., six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Erdman-Oldroyd Funeral Chapel with G.J. Naber officiating. Burial will be in Hope cemetery.
