Mrs. Rillie Kahalewai Joy, wife of Francis Barney Joy, of Keanu Avenue, Kaimuki, died at 4:15 o'clock yesterday morning [June 25, 1925] at the Queen's Hospital. She had been operated upon two days before. The body will be on view after 7:30 o'clock this evening at Williams' establishment where services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, burial to be in Nuuanu cemetery [Oahu Cemetery]. Mrs. Joy, who was born in Honolulu and was 38 years old, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Kahai Merseberg and granddaughter of the late John Adams Cummins. CUMMINS. Surviving her are the husband, former big league baseball pitcher on the mainland; 13 children, the oldest 21 years and the youngest two months of age, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. W.W. Blaisdell, James Merseberg, Charles Merseberg, Miss Matilda Merseberg, who returned Monday from Salt Lake City, where she resided three years; Miss Abigal Merseberg, who returned with her sister Monday after a residence of six years in Utah; Mrs. John Lee Kwai, William Merseberg, Mrs. Helen Pomroy, and Mrs. Madeline Sakai.
