Furman D. Hartin Sr., 86, of 3908 Overbrook Dr., retired roofing and sheet metal contractor; died Monday in a local nursing home. Mr. Hartin was born in Richland County, a son of the late Furman D. and Lucinda Wooten Hartin. He was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, a member of Hampton Lodge No. 204, AFM, Florence, and a 32nd degree Mason.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nellie Haley Hartin; a daughter, Mrs. Rex L. Salley Jr. of Columbia; a son, Furman D. Hartin Jr. of Columbia and a brother, W. R. Hartin Sr., of Columbia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev. John Q. Crumbley. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, is in charge.
