Note spelling of last name: "MISCENHEIMER" (see headstone) -- Kinchen's only son that survived to adulthood (Louis Harris) spelled it "MICENHEIMER"

Kinchen Stokes Miscenheimer was one of several sons of Jonathan Misenheimer4 (of George3, Johann Jacob2, Johann Jacob1 Meisenheimer) and first wife Sarah (Miller) Misenheimer.

Note last name spelling variations.

Family and internet records show that Jonathan Misenheimer died in Alabama. ALL known children are being listed below [Note: all listed in K. S. Misenheimer Bible record, copy with MCB III]. Children of Jonathan and Sarah (Miller) Misenheimer were: (1) "Millia" (b. May 8, 1821), (2) "Katie" (b. August 10, 1822), (3) George Martin (b. March 28, 1824), (4) John Mathias (b. May 23, 1826), (5) Daniel Monroe (b. January 9, 1828), (6) Joel (b. April 12, 1830), (7) twin Jonathan H. (b. May 12, 1830), (8) Kinchen Stokes (b. June 27, 1832), (9) D. Ivy (b. May 12, 1834), and (10) Mary Ann (b. June 7, 1836)

Kinchen Stokes Miscenheimer: married (1) Nannie Price Bosher; married (2) Margaret Ellen (Ellison) Snow; and married (3) Nancy Agnes (Young) Henderson.

*Some records (see internet, Johann Jacob Misenheimer) indicate Kinchen Stokes Miscenheimer married (1) Nancy R. HARRIS. (10/2012 researching this... Clarification on this would be appreciated).

Civil War Service, CSA

After extensive research, Kinchen Stokes Miscenheimer is believed by some Texas descendants (to be the "R." S. Meisenheimer (sp) listed in Civil War Archives who served in Company C, 3rd Texas Infantry Regiment, CSA.

Summary of research:

1) Kitchen Stokes Miscenheimer's birth year/age matches that of "R." S. Meisenheimer from above-referenced unit. [Note: "R." S. Meisenheimer was actually a "conscript" - if so, why did he not join up as did his brothers? Did recruiters incorrectly show his name on purpose?]

2) Birth location (North Carolina), match exactly those of the "R." S. Meisenheimer on Civil War muster rolls.

3) "K"inchen was in same location at the same time. Enlistment (consription) location - Caldwell County, Texas - match exactly those of the "R." S. Meisenheimer on Civil War muster rolls.

4) Other "Misenheimer" men (brothers) signed up in same county - it seems highly likely there would have been the pressure to do so on other family members (even as a conscript, he went...)

5) There was no other man even remotely-close to having the same specific data as the two people (in family or service records) ANYWHERE IN TEXAS.

As of June 24, 2015: Texas ancestor Kinchen Stokes Miscenheimer and "R." S. Meisenheimer are believed (by MCB III) to be the same person. If not, then who is the "R." S. Meisenheimer listed in Civil War muster rolls?

One theory: somewhere the fancy letter "K" (perhaps when Kinchen signed-up?) was mistaken for (in muster rolls) as an "R."
