James Earl "Jimmy" Adams, Jr., a resident of Gonzales and retired from the U.S. Navy, died at his home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, November 23, 2012. He was 72.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Melancon Adams; one son, James E. Adams and his wife Mary; two daughters, Christine Adams Landry and her husband Steve; Melissa Adams Austin and her husband Peter; ten grandchildren, Natalie Adams Pascal, Allison Adams Stockstill, Stephany Landry, Kirstie Landry, Javan Landry, Alicia Austin, Emily Austin, Rebecca Austin, Sarah Austin, and Elizabeth Austin; one great grandchild, Emery Ann Stockstill; three sisters, Zelda Price, Gay Adams, and Sharon Smith; one brother, Harold Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James E. Adams, Sr. and Irma Cooper Adams; a brother, John Adams; two sisters, Margaret Davis and Linda Childers; and a granddaughter Megan Landry.

Jimmy enjoyed cruising, creating with his tools and spending time with his family.

His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread at sea. The family will have a memorial at a later date.
