He was born March 26, 1908 in Fountain Green, Utah to Louis Burtran Sr. and Harriet Carlotta Guyman Bigler.
He married Norma Anderson September 27, 1930 in the Manti LDS Temple. She later died in 1945. He married Frieda Braithwaite February 1, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She later died in 1984.
Mr. Bigler graduated from Provo High School, attended BYU and mortician school in Provo.
He was a member of the LDS Church, Milton 2nd Ward. He was active in the Ogden 10th Elders Quorum, Sunday Schcool President and a High Priest in the Milton 2nd Ward.
He was employed by the Roberts Funeral Home, Provo, Utah, and the Royal Bread Company, Salt Lake City Owned and operated Bigler's Desert Inn Motel, Ogden, Utah and Bigler's Dairy Farm, Peterson.
He was president of the Ogden Motel Association and Utah State Motel Association. President of National Motor Hotel Association and traveled extensively in these offices. He was the first man to be elected to the Motel Hall of Fame west of the Mississippi.
He trained and exhibited registered saddle bred horses, and was a registered judge for the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a life member of the Weber County Sheriff's Posse and was twice elected Captain of this organization.
He organized the first Ogden Pioneer Days Horse Show and worked as Pioneer Days Chairman and Parade Chairman.
He was also director of the Dalton Irrigation Company.
Surviving are two sons (from first marriage) and two daughters (from second marriage): Robert M. Bigler, Mt. Green, Utah, Roger L. Bigler, Peterson; Murreleen (Blaine) Skeen, Shelly, Idaho; and Norma Ann (Tom) Stout, Peterson; 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are 4 brothers: Louis Burtram Bigler, SLC; Vandus J. Bigler, Ogden; Mont L. Bigler, Salem; and Edgar R. Bigler, Brigham City.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Mt. Green-Peterson Ward Chapel with Bishop Dee Preece officiating.
Interment was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
