Alfred Peddicord Dies at Age 72
Well-Known Retired Cisne Farmer Passed Away Wednesday Night at Mt. Vernon
Funeral services for Alfred P. Peddicord were held from the Cisne Methodist church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Shirley Milner officiating, assisted by Rev. Leland Hooper.
Burial was in the Cisne cemetery. DeSelms Funeral Home was in charge.
Death Unexpected
Mr. Peddicord was 72 years old. He died at Jefferon Memorial Hospital in Mt. Vernon at 10:30 Wednesday night following an operation for cancer. When he entered the hospital he had no idea his condition was so serious. In fact, he [unclear text] late [unclear] hospital the day before the operation.
Mr. Peddicord farmed for many years south of Johnsonville. Prior to that he lived near Fairfield. For the past 14 years he had lived in Cisne and was retired. Years ago he was an active worker in the Republican politics in the county.
Alfred P., son of William J. and Jemima McCoy Peddicord, was born in Wayne county October 16th, 1889.
On February 25th, 1914, he was married to Luna Weaver, with two sons born to this union.
Mr. Peddicord was a member and active worker in the Cisne Methodist church.
The Survivors
Surviving are his wife, Luna [line unclear] and Lowell, of Alton; five grandchildren; two brothers, U.R. Peddicoard, of Johnsonville, and Amos Peddicord, of Wayne City; and two sisters, Mrs. Olive Shehorn and Mrs. Saralea Peddicord of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
