Samuel M. Cole, 75, who farmed in the Gunter and Howe communities until his retirement in 1944, died unexpectedly at his home in Howe, Saturday at 7 a.m. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Howe Church of Christ, where Mr. Cole held membership. Services conducted by the Rev. Maurice Clayton. Howe Baptist Church pastor and the Rev. R.E. Corzine, Luella Baptist Church Pastor. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Akers Cemetery under direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Grandsons of Mr. Cole will be pallbearers.

Mr. Cole was born in Rysiansa Miss. on April 8, 1877, and came to Grayson county in 1912. He and the former Miss Fronie E. Johnson were married in Mississippi in 1898.

Mr. Cole is survived by his wife; two sons, Nath M. Cole of Pueblo, Colo, and Samuel R. Cole of Denver, Colo.;
two daughters, Mrs. Elo E. Schneider of Howe, and Mrs. Reno O. Schneider of Denison; 19 grand children; 15 great grandchildren; four half sisters, Mrs. R.L. Duncan, Mrs. Earl Preyer and Mrs. Ernst Waters, all of Greenville and Mrs. W. S. Ross of Kingston and a number of nephews and nieces.


He is buried beside his Wife, Sophronie "Fronie" E. Johnson Cole, who was born in Benton County, Miss.

Three of their Children are buried at Akers Cemetery:

#1> Robert Lealon Cole, born October 25, 1916; and died September 28, 1951;

#2> Ernest Henry Cole, born June 06, 1907 in Mississippi; and died May 1941.

#3> Allie Fronie Cole Schneider, born July 13, 1899 in Mississippi; and died Dec. 16, 1985.

He is the Son of Samuel Ruben Cole, who is buried at McWright Cemetery, Greenville, Hunt County, TX; and Rita Adline Moore Cole, who is buried at Windham Cemetery, Jumpertown, Prentiss County, MS.

His Maternal GrandParents are Jacob "Jake" Berry Moore, Sr, who is buried at Richardson Cemetery, Ripley, Tippah County, Miss; and Nancy Elizabeth James Moore, buried at Minter Cemetery, Jumpertown, Prentiss County, Miss.
