Elizabeth Manning Hender was born at Polean, Pelynt, the daughter of John Hender and Rebecca Manning Wenmouth. She married Thomas John A'Lee on 14 Jan 1888 in The Register Office, Liskeard, Cornwall. They had 5 children, Philip John, William, Charles Edward, Ethel and Fred, all born in Lansallos parish.
