Kenneth R. Hager, Sr., of Perkasie, PA, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Twp., PA. He was 81.

He was the husband of Janet (Dorn) Hager. The couple had celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on July 18, 2016.

Born in Perkasie, he was a son of the late Raymond and Florence (Wolfinger) Hager. He was a 1954 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie, where he ran track, and played baseball, basketball and football, and held several rushing records for over 50 years. He was a Maxwell Award recipient in 1953, and, in 1992, he was inducted into the Pennridge-Quakertown Area Sports Hall of Fame.

Ken served with the U. S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959, stationed in Japan.

While a high school student, Ken worked for the former C. D. Moyer Co., Silverdale, PA. Following his service in the Air Force, he began his working career with Bucks County Bank at its Seventh & Chestnut Streets location in Perkasie as a teller before being named Assistant Manager at the bank’s Glenwood Village location also in Perkasie. Later, he was promoted to the position of Loan Officer which he held until 1986. Then, he worked for First Savings Bank of Perkasie in collections until 1998 when he moved to part-time status until retiring in 2015. Ken also owned “Country Crafts”, crafting wooden items such as cradles, shelving, cabinets and small furniture.

He was a lifetime member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where he served on the Church Consistory and as the Church Treasurer. He also was a former member and coach of the Church Fastpitch Softball Team.

A founding member of the Pennridge Greenjackets Midget Football Association, Ken was a former member of the Pennridge Jaycees. For many years, he coached baseball in the Deep Run Baseball and Deep Run Connie Mack Baseball Leagues. He also served as an Assistant Coach for the Pennridge High School Baseball Team for a number of years. Ken took special pride in watching his grandchildren play in their sporting events and was their #1 Fan.

Surviving with his wife are three children, Lisa K. Hager, of Doylestown, PA, Colleen H. Trauger and her husband The Honorable Jeffrey G. Trauger, of Plumstead Twp., PA, and Kenneth R. “JR” Hager, Jr. and his wife Dawn, of East Rockhill Twp., PA; eight grandchildren, Rachel Trauger, Rebecca Trauger, Caitlin Marianiello and her husband Leo, Emily Eberle, Kayla Hager, Riley Hager, Noah Hager and Aubrey Hager; two great grandchildren, Evelyn and Easton Eberle; a brother, Marvin Hager and his wife Beverly, of Perkasie; and two sisters, Marie Smith, of Telford, PA, and Shirley Feddock, of Arlington, TX.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erin Kirkpatrick; three brothers, James, Earl and Roy Hager; and a sister, Ruth Helverson.

His Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, 110 North Sixth Street, Perkasie, where family and friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
