Mr. Brucken was a farmer and carpenter in the Holton area until 1993. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served aboard the USS Lofberg destroyer, stationed out of San Diego.
He was born Dec. 7, 1943, in Holton, the son of Henry and Mary A. Hermesch Brucken. He graduated from Holton High School in 1962. He moved from Holton to Edmonds, Wash., in 1993 and moved back to Holton this year.
Mr. Brucken was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton, the Jackson Farmers Co-op and Carpenter's Union Local No. 1445 in Topeka. He was a life member of Holton Memorial Post No. 1367 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Sandra S. Ellis on May 28, 1966, in Las Vegas. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Scott Brucken and Troy Brucken, both of Euless, Texas; two daughters, Becky Zibell, Holton, and Sheri Hamlin, Mayetta; his mother, Mary A. Brucken, Holton; four sisters, Delores Hughes, Lawrence, Doris Wright, Fresno, Calif., Joyce Sharp, Tecumseh, and Cindy Meyer, Mayetta; and five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. Burial with military honors will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery west of Holton.
