Skip joined the Navy at age 17 where he obtained his electrician training. Even as a child he would rather work than play, even turning play into work. He would endlessly pull his sisters on a sled or wagon. He never wanted to be the rider always the puller. He would often complete his sister's outdoor chores plus his own. He took over milking and barn cleaning at a very early age. At 13, he worked for a neighbor doing field work for a man's wages.
Skip acquired many friends over the years and was a loyal friend. Keeping up his friendships with current friends, childhood pals and cousins was important to him.
Skip had been married twice with great children born of both unions. Then twenty plus years ago he found Jenice Morrison, his constant forever companion, she was his perfect match, understanding and supporting him in every day.
Skip's hobbies included crossword puzzles daily, and enjoyed watching Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. He had an impressive Betty Boop collection and also enjoyed out house memorabilia.
Preceding him in death where are his parents Harold and Voya Fretheim, and grandparents.
He is survived by Jenice Morrison, children: Gwen Butler of Kent WA, Derrick (Lori) Fretheim of Valley City ND, Erik (Bonnie) Fretheim of Valley City ND, Erika (Robert) Nelson of Valley City ND, Tricia Potratz of Bismarck ND, and Travis (Brook) Fretheim of Thompson ND, sisters Lotus Ver Hoven of Elgin ND, and Merry Fuller of Idabel OK, one niece, three nephews, other relatives and friends to numerous to mention.
