He was born in Pennsylvania and was a lifetime resident of Akron. He served in the United States Army in the Burma Theatre in Wold War II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1089 and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Akron, where he served as a former president of the parish council. He retired from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1985 after 44 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, John (Susan); daughter, Cathrine (Craig) Brannon; sister, Helen Botos; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Grant St., Akron.Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, where V.F.W. #1089 and American Legion Post #170 will hold military honors.
