Merle M. Hiatt, 87, beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away from respiratory failure Oct. 16, 2013. Mrs. Hiatt was born in Sparks, GA on July 19, 1926. She came to Lakeland in 1955 from Georgia, and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by her first husband, Remer B. Carter; and by her second husband, Richard Paul Hiatt.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Carter Hill; son Richard (Marna) Carter; grandchildren, Stacie Odum, Gerry Hill, Justin Hill, Debbie Pearce and Jennifer Hinnenkamp; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Blake, Alexis and Hannah. Services will be conducted Monday at Oak Hill Burial Park at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale, FL.
